Cheap & Easy Swiffer Cloth

We have two dogs and a lot of traffic through our house.  So keeping the floors clean is quite a task.  I vacuum and mop twice a week but on the days I don’t, we Swiffer!  I love my Swiffer but I do not love the price of the disposable cloths. Way too much for something I am just going to toss in the trash.

My solution…. 2pk of Microfiber cloths from the Dollar Tree… for $1.  :)   They come in either bright blue (as seen on my Swiffer above) or neon green and can be found in the Kitchen aisle.

I originally bought them to use for dusting and such, but realized after washing them, there were still little pieces of lint stuck to them.  That’s when I decided to try them out on my Swiffer.  I just put one on my Swiffer like I would a disposable cloth and swiffer away.  These $1 store cloths do a great job of picking up all the dog hair and debris on our floors.  See?

When you are done, throw them in the wash and they come out pretty  much clean… still with a little lint (no dog hair!) but you are using them on the floor, so who cares??  And you just can’t beat the price!

That’s a great idea!! I also cringe at the thought of what I’m paying for swiffer cloths (both the wet and the dry). I think I’m going to get several of those and see if I can figure out a way to use them wet, too.

    Thanks!!

If you find a way to use them wet, let me know! I would love to do that! I usually will use my Shark steam mop in between my twice a week moppings. But it can really be a pain between filling it up and the cord. A wet reusable cloth would be great! I wonder if it would work on the swiffer mop… I have one. Hmm… gonna go have a look. Thanks for the idea! :)

  2. I’m putting this on my list for the Dollar store! I just picked up 2 packages of disposable cloths at the grocery outlet to try, but I really would prefer something re-usable. I’m curious, too, to know if these work as wet swiffers.

I have list going for the Dollar Store as well! ;) I know the wet swiffers have velcro, so I think a little sewing may be needed to adjust these cloths for that. But I am definitely going to try it out. I’ll be sure to let you know!
