Mission of the Month: June (and May Accomplishments)

Mission of the Month

Well, my mission for May was to survive the newborn stage with two toddlers in tow.  I will say that I am surviving but barely!  3 under 3 is a bit more difficult than I expected.  The lack of sleep from nursing throughout the night and having a newborn that confuses day and night makes it really difficult to be loving and patient throughout the day with two toddlers in the midst of their tantrum stages.

While I did spend the first couple weeks having mad baby blues and being really discouraged, I feel motivated now to make it work.  And to make it work well.  Thus, my missions for the month of June are…

  1. Research, via books and the internet, different disciplining and parenting techniques.  Blog about my findings in hopes to help other moms.
  2. Start a morning routine – Get up before the girls and have some quiet time.  Get dressed and ready for the day.  *I did this a couple times these past few weeks and while I did miss out on an extra hour of sleep, I was more energetic and patient throughout the day.
  3. Organize the hall closets.

I think these goals are pretty realistic for me right now, so hopefully I should be able to get them accomplished!  Check back at the end of the month to see how it went.  :)

A GREAT book is Parenting with love and logic, as well as creative corrections by Lisa Welchel Both have amazing things! And they kind of correspond together-I mean they are completely different books/authors, but both have the similar approaches to some things. :)

Let me know if you read either of them! :)

And you are one brave lady! Just remember it’s gotta get easier-I have no idea I only have one, but I can imagine each day gets a little easier as you settle into more of a routine! :)

It IS very true that it does get easier as you settle into a routine. Having the energy to stick to that routine and really just roll out of bed is the hard part! lol. Guess that’s where coffee comes in, right?! :) Thank you so much for your reading suggestions! I will definitely look into them. I need all the help I can get! Thanks for stopping by, Brandi!!!

I LOVED Grace Based Parenting and I’m loving The Ministry of Motherhood and Shepherding a Child’s Heart, Don’t Make Me Count to Three and She’s Gonna Blow (deals with mommy anger)!

    Congrats serving this far.

LaToya, THANK YOU so much for sharing your favorite parenting resources!! I am doing the Ministry of Motherhood right now and have heard great things about all the other ones. I am going to have to do a big purchase off Amazon here soon! :)

Oh, 3 under 3…I can empathize! I can remember when I had 3 under 3 and then 5 under 5. You WILL survive and I am so glad that you are feeling motivated! :-)

    Thanks for linking up!

Well done on surviving last month! And I truly applaud your goal (1 of them) for this month of getting up and dressed before the little ones. I’ve only managed that a handful of times and I agree I did feel better for it – YET I cant get myself to do it religiously, I just ignore the alarm and have another 30-45mins sleep then pay the price by not being dressed until lunchtime!! x

It DOES make a huge difference, right?! I was talking with a friend last night and she said the same exact thing. I guess it’s good my newborn wakes me up at 6am to eat. It really makes me get out of bed and wake up. Can’t really hit the snooze button on her! ;)
