Yard Sale Lists & Tips

There is a huge community yard sale nearby tomorrow, one I look forward to every year!  While I am still very pregnant and waiting for baby #3 to come any day now, my sister and I plan on going.

She is expecting her first baby in October, so we are on the hunt for some great baby buys!  And I of course am always on the lookout for fantastic learning toys and tools for the girls.

That’s why I was so excited to find this awesome Yard Sale Cheat Sheet over at Teach Mama!  She lays out all the things you should be on the hunt for to add to your collection of learning tools to use with your children at home.  If you scroll to the bottom of the article, you will find a link for a printable cheat sheet to take along with you.  (Also read this article on great books to be on the lookout for!)

These Yard Sale Shopping Tips from Yard Sale Queen are a bit extensive but well worth the read!  Some of my favorite tips are to wear sneakers or other closed toe shoes, bring a small screwdriver to check for corroded batteries, stuff a couple plastic grocery bags into your pocket, and stash a big box or basket in the trunk of your car for all the great items you buy.

And this video by far has some great tips for shopping yard sales, as well as getting you in the yard sale mood!  Very creative and super hilarious!  (You can also check out the video over here.)

What are YOUR best tips for shopping yard sales?

I think we live in the same city!! I’m assuming you are talking about the Westchase yard sale – did you find anything good? I gave up early this time! My mom’s group is having a sale on Saturday – I’m getting rid of a few learning toys (wooden puzzles & such) and lots of other toys and clothing. Let me know if you want the address! : )

I just found you on the Women Living Well links. These are great tips. I loved the video. “I Break for Garage Sales” too and I still learned some things from this post. My mom’s neighborhood just had ‘Yard Sale Days’ last weekend where 60+ houses had yard sales. We just walked around from house to house. It was yard sale heaven. They do it every year and it is always on my mom’s birthday weekend so I love going. I saw one new unique way to display items. They brought their big trampoline out front and hung clothes around the edges and put items on top like a table. We try to have a yard sale once a year. I call it a “Recycle Sale” and I use recycle symbols and flourescent green poster board to promote it (It’s all about branding). People always comment about how it gets their attention and stands out from the other sales.
